LAOAG CITY-Ilocos Norte will receive another plastic recycling facility to promote its solid waste management program.

Estrella Sacro, head of the Environmental and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) in Ilocos North, said the machine will come from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

It has a plastic washer and dryer, and an extruder used to make chairs, tables, flower pots, etc.

"We are grateful to the DENR Central Office for trusting our project because our goal is zero waste in Ilocos Norte," Sacro said in an interview on Monday after the trial operation of the 6 million Philippine pesos plastic waste recycling machine , With a capacity of 250 kg per hour.

According to Sacro, the new plastic recycling machine can process all types of disposable plastic materials, such as Sando bags, except for plastic bottles and hard plastics. The machine is currently stationed here at the ENRO expansion warehouse in Barangay Camanggaan, as it complements the ongoing construction of plastic recycling and material recycling facilities for the pilot model cluster in Marcos Town.

The facility is being built on 3 hectares of land owned by the Marcos City Government and will treat all biodegradable and residual waste generated in the towns of Solsona, Dingras, Nueva Era, Pinili, Currimao, Badoc, San Nicolas, Banna, Paoay, etc., and Batak City in the second district of the province.

Sacro said that once fully operational, this will greatly reduce the problem of solid waste.

On October 20th last year, an ecological center facility that converts plastic waste into usable products was also completed in Pidige.

Using simple techniques, plastic wrapping paper and fragments are broken down into fragments and mixed with cement and sand to produce environmentally friendly products and products, including ecological bricks and permeable pavers. (PNA)
